Desalto has always sought to expand the boundaries of what is possible in working with materials, creating memorable collections and architectural furniture with high expressive power. Metal, processed with skill and enthusiasm, turns into exquisite products with a pronounced technical and technological component.
Desalto products and the company's manufacturing experience are proof of the highest quality of Made in Italy products worldwide.
The history of Desalto begins in the heart of Brianza back in the 50s and continues into the present day. In 1963, the Orsenigo family created ORMA, a small laboratory for the production of classic metal furniture elements, which later became known as OMA. In 1990, the Orsenigo brothers decided to open a full-fledged production, thereby giving the world one of the most original and unusual factories in the furniture industry. The brand gets a name: Desalto, short for Design Alto (“high design"). In 1972, Desalto became the first furniture brand to open an entire workshop at the factory, completely dedicated to electroplating baths, which ensures a full production cycle inside and the ability to make any non-standard colors in metal. Since 2010, Desalto has been a multiple winner of the prestigious Compasso d'oro architectural award (“golden compass”). In 2015, the legendary Clay table (designed by Marc Krusin) was born: a real sculpture that defies the laws of balance due to ingenious engineering design. Through design, Desalto transforms lines and materials into spectacular furniture that leaves no one indifferent. Technicality, innovation and balance: factory engineers bring to life the most daring ideas of designers. Today, the factory is associated with unique and characteristic shapes and experiments with metal, creating new interior scenarios every day. Starting in 2022, Francesco Rota, whose calling card is industrial dualism, will become Desalto's creative director and lead designer. Thanks to his fresh vision, the brand continues to conquer new unexplored horizons and expand its collection.
